Basic Beauty Tips for the Face

The face is on show almost all the time because whenever people see you they look at your face. Most women want to take care of their face in some way and many spend a great deal of time and finances to get the best face possible. However, looking after your face doesn’t have to be incredibly expensive if you remember these tips.

  • Stay well by eating well – think fruit and vegetables – and getting enough sleep. Your face will be the first to declare it when you are ill or overtired, with bags under the eyes and a grey tinge.
  • Stay dehydrated to prevent early wrinkles
  • Find out what type of skin you have and treat it accordingly.
  • When taking a shower, don’t have the water too hot or stay in too long, otherwise you’ll come out looking like a prune.

  • Pat skin dry or if you must rub, do it gently with a soft towel.
  • Add moisturiser after the shower.
  • Make sure your skin is clean before adding moisturiser, otherwise you are just rubbing dirt in.
  • If you’ve been in a smoky atmosphere from smog, bushfire, barbeque or cigarettes, clean your skin as soon as possible because smoke tends to cling and it will then dry your skin out.
  • Remove dead skin cells from time to time by exfoliating. This helps your skin to retain its youthful, radiant look.
  • Get plenty of sleep to avoid bags under the eyes. Resting with cucumber slices over the eyes really helps.
  • If you are prone to allergies that give you itchy or bloodshot eyes, use eye drops to remove the redness. But don’t use them too much. It may be better to have antihistamine tablets at least some of the time.
  • Lips are an important part of the face. If yours look dry, start using lip balm more often.
  • Use sunscreen on your face or a combination of that and moisturiser when outside.
  • Using a toner as well as a face cleanser can do a better job of getting the pores and skin cleaner.
  • Wear a hat in the sun. If you only use sunscreen, apply it 20 minutes before getting into the sun.
  • Avoid smoking as it constricts the blood vessels, which can have a detrimental effect on the skin and make it look dull.
  • Worried about wrinkles? Some women go for Botox treatment, but never have too much because a frozen face is very aging, even if it doesn’t have wrinkles.
  • Remember that even oily skin needs moisturising as the oil doesn’t usually spread over the whole face, or even sink into the skin.
