More Dermal Filler Alternatives to Juvederm

When Juvederm does not work like you think it should or if there is a problem with it, your doctor may suggest using an alternative, not to having a dermal filler treatment, but to the content of the injection. There are plenty to choose from and your doctor will have the knowledge and experience to choose one that is suitable for you, taking into consideration the area to be done and your past history of dermal filler injections.

Here are some of the alternatives.

  • Sub Q – an offering from Restylane, Sub Q is a hyaluronic acid based product which is said to be one of the longest lasting at 6-18 months, depending on the person who uses it. Because it is made from a substance that is found naturally in the human body, it cannot be considered a permanent solution since it breaks down eventually.

  • Esthelis – there are 2 in this range, Esthelis Basic and Esthelis Lido. While they are basically made from hyaluronic acid, the difference to other products made from it is in the way it is chemically produced with a patented technology that slows down the natural degradation, meaning it lasts longer.
  • Belotero Balance – this range is used for moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, smoothing them out well and offering skin rehydration as well. Tissue integration without shape disruption are features.
  • Ellanse – The main component is microspheres of Poly-caprolactone (PCL). The several options in this family last longer and are safer than many other types. The spheres do not degrade during resorption causing inflammation like some dermal fillers do.
  • Emervel – is a soft dermal filler that includes 5 different types of hyaluronic acid, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, especially around the lip and other delicate areas.
  • Teosyal – This product range springs from laboratories in Switzerland and includes an injection pen that makes treatment faster and less painful.

While it may seem that all these dermal fillers couldn’t possibly be different, in fact they do have differences that can make one more suitable than the others for a particular need, so even if you’ve had no success with dermal fillers in the past, trying one that is different could very well give you the results that you are longing to see.

Some are easier on the body, some last longer than others, some are more suitable for different facial areas than others and so on. If you are unhappy about the result of former treatments it is wise to go back to the doctor and explain exactly what you felt was wrong about it. In that way he will be able to choose another dermal filler that is more suitable.
